I was drawn to art beyond being content to just appreciate it\, but during my working career making time for art seemed a luxury to be put on hold for the future. Somehow I found jewelry making and fell in love with it. It enabled me to work with color\, design\, and texture\, it was a great stress-reliever\, an outlet for my creativity\, and it nurtured my soul. When I became a member of an artists’ co-op in Colorado Springs\, I was constantly admiring the work created by the glass artists there\, and one day one of them offered to teach me how to fuse glass. I was hooked. Creating fused glass art has taught me to appreciate all art even more than I did before. It is always a learning experience. But when everything goes right\, the end result brings me joy and nurtures my soul\, as I always hope it will for those who see my art. Learning\, enjoying and creating art is an ongoing journey. Each new piece guides its own design and helps me grow as an artist. I love it. \n\n\n\nRefund & Cancellation Policy\nNo refund will be issued less than 15 days prior to any Community Class. These include the light tunnel\, dancing cypress-inspired spindle trees\, traditional punched-tin stars & trees\, light curtains (great for photo-ops)\, and a dazzling display of luminarias like you’ve never seen before. Sizes .005\, .01\, .02\, .03 or heavier if you prefer.\nPencils for sketching out your drawing\ngum eraser\nwatercolor paints\npaint brushes (round and flat if possible)\nlight source for shadow on subject (e.g. small flashlight\, or you may use your cell phone flashlight if you have a smartphone)\n\nMaterials Provided: \n\nTBG will provide tracing paper and Bristol paper\n\nCost: \n$75 Non-Member / $60 Member \nRegister Here \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructor: \nJoan McGann\n\n\nJoan McGann earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wichita State University and a Certificate of Excellence from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Art Institute\, Nature Illustration Program. She has exhibited in gardens and galleries throughout the United States. Current works in botanical illustration have an emphasis on plants native to the Sonoran Desert. Her work is in the permanent collections of the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation at Carnegie Mellon University\, the Shirley Sherwood Collection at Kew Gardens\, London\, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and in private collections. The Fair hosts artists from around the world\, decadent food\, local entertainment and a lot of fun! The Fair is biannual\, taking full advantage of our wonderful Sonoran Desert climate\, with one in the Winter and the other in Spring. \nThe Fair is produced by the North Fourth Avenue Merchants Association\, Inc.\, a local nonprofit.
